acrylics

After a long career teaching music in elementary schools, Judy has turned her energy and enthusiasm to the world of visual art. Since 2000 she has been gathering the skills she needs to paint the music of her life. She studied watercolour with Leona Brown, Alex Suprowich and other well-known Manitoba artists. More recently she has moved to acrylics, attending workshops with Brent Laycock from Calgary and Nancy O’Toole from Vancouver.

Judy paints a wide variety of subject matter using a representational style. In her work, she shares her private joys: her garden, the Manitoba landscape, and sights from her travels. A student of human nature, she is often inspired to paint children and colorful characters from various walks of life.

Judy is a member of Local Colour Art Group, Selkirk Community Arts Group, MSA, and the Assiniboia Group of Artists Cooperative. She has exhibited her work in many group shows and in three solo shows. For six years she and three friends organized the Art Rocks Show in North Kildonan. At present she is the Winnipeg representative of Leading Edge Art Workshops.

She is excited to be joining the talented artists of Manitoba Art Expo.
