Barry was born in Winnipeg, Canada and after briefly
living in Minnesota and Illinois, returned to his home town in 1991. Although
Barry’s family has owned and operated a framing and art gallery since 1989,
Barry’s creativity blossomed with the onset of digital photography.
Photography allows him to draw upon his creativity, portraying a mood or sense
of drama, whether it’s the tranquility of a landscape at dusk or the feeling
of abandonment of a weather-beaten farmhouse. He will never forget camping
out on the shore of Dogtooth Lake, alone in the morning chill. As the sun rose,
a beaver swam across the lake, leaving ripples in its wake, while overhead, an
eagle screamed. His photography brings back those memories for him and
resonates with those who were not even there.
He has been exhibiting his photography since 2003
and has participated in the 2006 and 2007 Manitoba Art Expo and at the first
annual Manitoba Photographic Arts Expo in 2008.
Barry Striemer and family operate Bear Creek Gallery
in Winnipeg, where a selection of his photography is permanently on exhibit.
