As a self-taught artist, Melaney has been committed to painting watercolours since 1983. In her work she communicates her love of rural Manitoba with its varied landscapes and seasons.

     Although landscapes remain Melaney's main focus, she continues to explore other subjects within the medium. Many of her paintings have been inspired by the west shore of Lake Winnipeg, where she and her family spend their summers.

     She continues to paint, teach watercolour classes and exhibit on a regular basis. Melaney's paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections.
