Artist, naturalist and outdoorsman, Don McMaster
lives in the landscape he loves to paint. His home and studio
overlook miles of wild and undeveloped hills and ravines along
the Assiniboine River Valley southwest of Portage la Prairie.
The landscapes of Manitoba and Saskatchewan provide the central focus
for his large, distinctive canvasses, interpreting the light
and space which characterize our western provinces. Best known
for his large prairie paintings, he also produces a significant
number of paintings depicting the boreal forest, in particular,
the Lake of the Woods region, where he maintains a summer studio.
