She was recommended as one of Manitoba's
"ten most talented artists to collect" by Winnipeg's
Holiday Lights magazine in November, 2001.

Whether her work depicts reeds standing
bravely upright in the winter's sun, a stand of thistles in the
summer's haze, or a grove of willows beside a prairie slough,
the viewer can detect in the meticulous detail and gentle execution
this artist's deep appreciation for the simple and natural scene.

Vera's art invites the viewer to appreciate
the often-overlooked or mundane images found in rural settings
and even on the edges of the city. A vast and expressive sky
dominating the scene has become a trademark of her work.

A native of Winnipeg, Vera is recognized
for her prairie landscapes that explore the interaction between
human effort and the passage of time - abandoned farmsteads,
crumbling railway stations and elevators, derelict vehicles and
disappearing railway lines. She is also well known for her bird
studies, with her painting of the eastern bluebird having been
selected for a promotional campaign by the Friends of the Eastern
Bluebird Society (Eastern Canada).
