Roman Gierek was born and raised in the
north end of Winnipeg. An avid fisherman, his landscapes of calm
lakes, rivers and streams with stately trees are inspired while
he is on fishing trips and at his home on the Red River south
of Winnipeg.

Roman worked for 33 years with the Winnipeg
Police Department, and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He designed
the engraving on the Winnipeg Police Centennial Sword and the
inside covers of the First Century Police Book, which shows a
montage of the police department. He also was a police artist.

Other credits include commissions and numerous
paintings sold through the Hovmand Art Gallery. He has had solo
exhibitions in Morris and Ste. Agathe. As well, Roman has exhibited
his work at the Manitoba Art Expo, the Northern Art and Garden
Show, Artorama, and at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. Roman
is a member of the Assiniboia Group of Artists and the Arts Network
in Winnipeg.
