Basically self-taught, this watercolour artist works from her studio at Lake Manitoba Narrows.
Shirley Germain has won awards at juried art shows in many regions of the province over the past
20 years, having lived in Brandon, Winnipeg, Thompson, Dauphin, Arborg and Stonewall.

She was acknowledged for her design of the Canada Summer Games medals in 1997, the cover of MPI's
Millennium calendar, and her entry in the Ducks Unlimited Central Flyway Sponsor Print Program in 2000.

For Shirley, watercolour is the perfect
medium to portray the many moods of Manitoba. She still feels
compelled to capture the beauty of the Aurora Borealis ... something
she remembers vividly from her years in the north. However, her
subject matter has broadened and she now enjoys painting prairie
landscapes, old machinery and vehicles, as well as birds.

Shirley has been involved in the Manitoba
Art Expo since its inception in 1996 and has met many wonderful
people at these shows. She looks forward to seeing many of them again
this year!
